Our Sustainability Oath

We love coffee. But we also love the Earth. Unfortunately, coffee production is a large contributor to the climate crisis. When we started AgriCult, we vowed to focus all of our efforts on not just high quality taste, but even more so on combatting the negative environmental impacts that coffee can have.

What does that mean for us exactly? And what does it mean for you? Read on below to find out.

From Farm…

We aim to source green coffee from farms that practice eco-friendly methods. This includes avoiding deforestation, using organic or regenerative farming, and/or growing coffee under the shade of native trees and alongside diverse crops. We want to support farms that support the planet. When possible, we also prefer naturally processed beans and appreciate producers who minimize water usage and reduce waste by using the by-products of coffee production.

To Cup…

Since we’re all about the CULTure of caring about climate change, we’re doing everything we can to decrease our carbon footprint. All of our packaging is 100% recyclable (yes, even the labels and valves!), we compost the by-products of our roasts at home (chaff, beans, and grounds), and we use an electric roaster (goodbye to gas).

& Back to Earth

For every bag of AgriCult coffee that you buy, we donate $2 to a carefully selected environmental nonprofit organization or initiatives dedicated to reforestation, protecting natural resources, fighting climate change, and preserving our planet. We pick partners in the country of origin of the roast you buy. That means that every bag sold directly helps the community or country it came from.

DROP OF WATER

For each sale of our Ethiopian Firē roast, we’re donating to Drop of Water (DoW) - a local NGO that’s on a mission to conquer the water crisis in Ethiopia's rural communities. DoW advances access to clean water, improves sanitation and hygiene, and champions environmental protection. Their strategy is threefold: enable clean water access, guide communities in drought management, and drive the "Aware, Active, and Change" campaign to mobilize community action and education.

DoW's impactful work includes over 150 clean water projects, significant community and student engagement, and strategic partnerships like the one with Blood:Water, enhancing their reach and capacity. These efforts not only meet immediate needs but also foster sustainable community development and public health improvements. To dive deeper into their transformative work, visit Drop of Water.

Previous Impact Partner

With the sales of our premier roast - La Bastilla Natural from Nicaragua - we donated $2 per bag to TreeNation to support The CommuniTree project - Nicaragua’s largest reforestation initiative.

Initiated in Nicaragua in 2010, The CommuniTree project is an innovative reforestation initiative that aims to combat climate change and promote sustainable development among smallholder farmers, including those involved in coffee production. It helps farmers integrate tree planting into their land management, improving soil health and increasing farm productivity through the benefits of agroforestry. The initiative not only helps the planet by capturing carbon but also boosts the farmers' incomes by allowing them to earn from carbon credits, all while enhancing and restoring local biodiversity, and building resilience against climate change impacts.

With $100 to give from the sale of 50 bags of La Bastilla, we were able to plant 7 trees, reforest 0.01 hectares of land, and capture 3.5 tonnes of carbon. It’s a small step but every step counts in keeping our planet green!
